I didn’t realize I’m a shopaholic until I said it out loud.
Shopping itself is addictive. I don’t really like shopping, but I love the idea of finding great deals, so I put aside my dislike for shopping. I believe I have shopping problems because I live beyond my means and if I actually make more money than I spend then it wouldn’t be so bad.
You know it’s bad when you order online and you’re afraid your parents will yell at you again so you send it to your friend’s address (I am so serious). I let myself lose again this past month and oh lord, my bill is not pretty. I am so embarrassed to say this, but I spent over $800 in March just on clothes, shoes, and makeup and I don’t remember half of the stuff I bought. Remember what I said in my previous post about saving money and only spending $60 a month on clothing? Wow, I was shooting for the stars. I need to listen to my own advice. It seems like it is impossible for me to stop spending money on unnecessary objects.
I don’t mean to sound dramatic but sometimes I feel like merchandises are talking to me to buy them. When I don’t end up buying something I really want, I dream about it and I meditate on it for weeks or until I buy it. I’ve tried so many things like giving up my credit cards and debit card to my parents, only using cash, and no cash. I’m at a lost. For someone who is supposed to be the face of sustainability, I failed so miserably I can’t even get up but staying consistent through all the ups and downs, I’m ready to face the harsh truth once again.
For starters, I really need to learn how to manage my spending habits so help me to stay on top of my game. For the month of April, I’ll write down every single item I buy on a piece of paper and stick it on my wall. I also have a problem getting take outs and eating out, so I’ll make a budget for it as well.
My whole month spending limit is $250 for clothes, shoes, food and etc. It is time to get real and I really need help to downsize my appetite for unnecessary junks. Since I’m spending money, I also need to earn some money for the month. I have to come up with clever ways to earn some money back in my pocket. Please excuse my horrible handwriting and budget planner (I give up writing altogether).
Ladies, I sincerely need your help to keep me on my toes about being sustainable with my lifestyle. I’ll write about my overall spending at the end of every month from now on and my goal is eventually to have a budget and spend less and less money every month and possible to zero amount. Join me on this adventure and share me your thoughts and wishes! I would love to hear from you and if you have a great way you plan your budget, please do me a huge favor and help me save!
